At each prenatal visit, we will be checking the health of you and
your baby by means of blood pressure checks, urinalysis, measuring
growth and listening to the baby’s heartbeat. These visits will last at
least one hour, which will give you the opportunity to become better
acquainted with Diana, allow ample time to ask questions and voice
concerns. At each visit we will also discuss such topics as nutrition,
childbirth education, breastfeeding and parenting.
Diana will be on call for you 24 hours a day for any
emergent needs and
labor. All other visits will be scheduled around your particular needs,
including available appointments in the evening or weekends.

When it is time for your baby to be born, Diana will come to your home with all necessary equipment for a safe and gentle birth. She will stay with you for 2-3 hours after the birth and ensure that both mom and baby are stable and comfortable. Before she leaves, she will perform a newborn exam to verify that all is well with the baby. She will also make sure that breastfeeding is established and that you feel comfortable with newborn care. You will receive a booklet with extensive postpartum instructions regarding your care and the care of your newborn.

Diana will return to your home for 3-4 postpartum visits over the next six weeks. The first visit will be within 24-48 hours and the metabolic screening will be done during that visit. An appointment for a hearing screen will be set up for your baby within the first few weeks. Diana will follow-up with your healing process, breastfeeding, baby weight gain and any other concerns you might have during the postpartum period.
